As a trained Christian Spiritual Director, I have a passion for helping people grow in their relationship with the Lord. I am not a health care provider or licensed counselor, but I do have training and experience in Christian spiritual direction, formation, and healing and intercessory prayer. I love coming alongside people who are struggling in their faith or lacking direction, including issues related to forgiveness, grief, loss, sin, fear, a lack of confidence, and relational challenges. It is my joy to join others in search of God’s fingerprints in their lives, and I count it a privilege to get a front row seat to what the Lord is doing.
I am fluent in both Dutch and English.
Bothell – Tue and Thu
Abundant life with Christ is our ultimate promise! (John 10:10b)
My Goal as a Spiritual Director
My ultimate goal for our time together is for your relationship with God to be deepened and for your soul to be refreshed. I also pray that through our sessions, you will gain clarity around any issues that you’re facing, grow in understanding of who you are created to be, enjoy an increased sense of freedom, and find support and comfort if you’re going through a difficult season.
What I Offer in Christian Spiritual Direction and Care Support
I offer a space where you can slow down and get away from the noise of life to “be” with God.
I offer prayerful companionship as we tune into God’s presence and invitations in your life, discerning His guidance and seeking comfort, wisdom, transformation, truth, hope, and freedom rooted in God’s Word and guided by His Spirit.
We will generally start our sessions acknowledging and inviting the presence of God through prayer, after which we will address any issues on your heart for our time together. If desired, we can also explore various spiritual disciplines that can help grow a connection with the Lord in deeper, more tangible ways.
My Approach to Spiritual Direction and Care
As a trained Christian Spiritual Director, I operate from the foundation of the truth of God’s Word along with my faith and relationship with Christ. I believe God to be present and active in our day-to-day life and I regard people as uniquely created and equipped by God (Ephesians 2:10, Romans 12:4-8). I look forward to helping you discover a deeper sense of His presence in your daily life and a greater understanding of who you are created to be in Him as well as the authority you possess in Christ. I have a high view of Scripture and believe that God’s truth can set us free (John 8:31-32). Together we will seek to hear the voice of our Good Shepherd so we can follow wholeheartedly after Him.
My Call to Spiritual Direction and Care
Ever since encountering the presence of God in my late teens and entering into a relationship with Christ, I’ve been on my own journey to embrace truth and wholeness and to shed hindrances like fear and shame. My relationship with God led me to pursue a degree in Biblical Studies, serve in various ministries including immersive cross-cultural settings, and most recently leading retreats and facilitating space for people to slow down and be refreshed by God’s presence through worship, prayer, His Word, and His Spirit.
More About Me/On a Personal Note
My husband and I have been married for more than 20 years, and we are blessed with two wonderful children. Our life together has taken us on mission adventures around the world during the first decade of our marriage, then settling down and growing a family and a business together during the second decade.
I was born and raised in the Netherlands and only recently, after more than 20 years, became a naturalized U.S. citizen. I love growing veggies with my kids and skiing with my family. Having grown up in a country void of mountains, I still, after two decades, point out the snow-capped mountains in awe of God’s creation.
My life is marked by various events, not the least of them the unexpected sickbed then passing of my mom when I was in my early twenties. Grieving such a significant loss with the Holy Spirit as my Comforter has had a deep impact on my spiritual life. I have also had to navigate significant cultural and inter-personal differences while integrating into a new culture and, upon marriage, into a new family.
