As your counselor, I will provide a space where you can process your trials, understand the impact they are having on your life, and then adjust your thoughts or behaviors based on your new understanding. I view counseling as an opportunity to take the time to understand how life events have impacted our thought processes and how our upbringing contributes to patterns of behavior. Once we have worked through some of those patterns and understand the “why,” then we can decide if we would like to continue those patterns or make changes.
My Goal as a Christian Counselor
As a goal-oriented therapist, I will work with you to establish an actionable treatment plan that meets your needs and desires for therapy. I will provide you with tangible processes and sometimes homework assignments to help you move toward your goals. By providing the necessary tools and skills, my aim is for you to become better equipped to manage your trials in a healthy, productive, and God-honoring way.
What I Offer in Christian Counseling
I am a direct communicator who listens carefully without judgment. In our sessions, I will often check my understanding and clarify important details. Depending on your struggles, we will work on strategies related to emotional regulation and practical coping skills to help you better manage and overcome your symptoms. As a faith-based practitioner, I recognize what an honor it is to be someone’s counselor, and that is not a responsibility I take lightly.
My Approach to Christian Counseling
As a Christian, my faith informs every area of my life. As a counselor, it plays a large role in our therapy sessions as we seek to better understand our thoughts and behavior. Christian counseling allows the therapist and client to look through the same lens regarding what God wants for us.
Qualifications & Experience
I have a Bachelor of Arts in Communications, Psychology, and Leadership from the University of Nebraska and a Master of Arts in Educational and Clinical Counseling from Azusa Pacific University.
My Call to Christian Counseling
A variety of life events led me to pursue counseling. Ultimately, I began working at a nonprofit in resource development. The work that we were doing supported counselors and social workers in schools. I decided I wanted to have a direct impact and work face-to-face with individuals. I have always had a strong curiosity about people and human behavior. I love getting to know people’s stories and how their experiences contribute to who they are as individuals.
More About Me/On a Personal Note
I have two young children and enjoy spending time with my family. I love to read a great book or get hooked on a TV series. I enjoy working out and having an active lifestyle outdoors. I also love warm weather and vacationing at the beach.
