My Goal as a Christian Counselor
My goal as a Christian counselor is to build strong rapport, show Christlike love, and assist individuals in reaching their goals while living in congruence with their faith and values. I will meet you wherever you are in life, whether in the midst of darkness, light, or somewhere in between, and help you feel known and loved by Christ.
What I Offer in Christian Counseling
During our first session, I will spend time getting to know your story, who you are, your faith and values, and what you want to work on. Together we will develop a realistic plan for you to experience the growth you desire. I like to create SMART goals – Specific, Measurable, Attainable, Relevant, and Time-Bound – so we can track progress together over time.I will spend time explaining the counseling process to you and get to know what you expect from therapy, especially if you have never been before.
My Approach to Christian Counseling
There are so many passages in Scripture that tell us to lean not on our own understanding, but on Christ, which allows me to rely on Him and welcome Him into sessions, depending on the comfort level of my clients. I also believe prayer is such a powerful tool, and helps empower people to seek Jesus. I will never push prayer or Scripture on my clients, but will gladly incorporate both for those who comfortable doing so.
Qualifications & Experience
I have a BA in Psychology and a Master’s in Clinical Counseling from Point Loma Nazarene University, where I also completed a pre-practicum with a private practice called the Center for Enriching Relationships. I completed my practicum at Sharp Mesa Vista Hospital.I am licensed as an LMFTA and CDPT/ SUPDT Substance Use Disorder Professional Trainee.
My Call to Christian Counseling
Before I chose a career, I knew I wanted to help people and fulfill my calling to love God and others. Over time, I found psychology and Christian counseling to be a fascinating approach that allows me to help people see the “what” and the “why” behind behaviors. I have a passion for working with others who are hurting, whether from grief, broken relationships, or feeling a lack of identity and purpose.
More About Me/On a Personal Note
I love people, the outdoors, and my family. I have an amazing husband who loves me, supports me, and teaches me about Christlike love on a daily basis. I can relate to those who have known and loved family members who battle with addictions, alcoholism, personality disorders, and codependency. Although my life has had many challenges and caused me to feel very deep grief and pain, each one of us experiences pain and joy differently. Whether or not we share the same experiences, it can be very healing and therapeutic to be heard, listened to, and validated in your emotions.

Chemical Dependency
Chemical dependency is a disease that thrives in secrecy and shame. Addiction is often accompanied by a wide variety of toxic behaviors that individuals have likely used to protect themselves for a very long time. I will help you to deconstruct those behaviors that no longer serve you and show you how to replace them with new behaviors that will result in forgiveness and restored, healthy relationships.
I offer a safe space where you can be honest about your struggles as you seek to forge a new path for yourself. You can live a life worth being sober for – call today to take the first step.
Individual Counseling
The therapeutic relationship is so important and can be a wonderful tool for healing. Helping people understand themselves better and experience “aha” moments is so lifegiving for me as a therapist. Through individual counseling, I will help you achieve your goals, better understand and live according to your values, and create a compass for the decisions you make in life.
Grief and Loss
There are five stages, and seven phases of grief, which hardly look the same for anyone. People go in and out of these stages and phases depending on the kind of person they are, what the relationship was, and what kind of coping skills they have developed. No matter where you may be in your grief journey, I will meet you where you are and help you understand that grief is a process. Christian counseling can help you normalize your experience, which will not only help you grieve but also strengthen resiliency.
Grief and loss can either cause people to question their faith or grow stronger in their relationship with the Lord. Using Scripture and other literature, I offer a safe space for you to express whatever emotions you may be feeling as you process your grief and loss. It’s okay to feel like life will never be the same without the person you lost, because it shouldn’t be. It won’t be the same, but you can still experience genuine hope and joy in your future, with God’s help. God is close to the brokenhearted. He is our comforter in times of trouble. He is with us and will strengthen us, and joy can be found in Him in the morning.
Premarital Counseling
Premarital counseling is such an important aspect of your marriage preparation. In our time together, I’ll start by getting to know your story, and learning about each of you as individuals and as a couple. I will ask you to fill out a pre-marriage assessment so we can focus in on key areas of growth. I will assign homework between sessions so you and your future spouse can discuss and work together throughout the week. We’ll discuss helpful communication techniques, expectations for different aspects of marriage, and more.
